Consider Yourself Lucky
Grab your green this month. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated annually around the world and has evolved into a celebration of Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, drinking and a whole lot of green. The concept of having “the luck of the Irish” is also closely tied to the holiday which led us to question our perspective on luck.
Luck is quite a concept.
Are you someone who considers yourself lucky? Or unlucky? Either way, let’s figure out why we think that way and how we all can start to consider ourselves lucky.
Perspective changes everything. Many of us view our perspectives as glass “half-full” or “half-empty.” We can take this principle and apply it to most situations in life. Having the ability to look at a variety of viewpoints in any situation and even finding the silver lining has to be one of the greatest strengths to keeping your Shine extra Bright.
What is “luck” anyway? Some say luck is the result of hard work, good timing, and making the most of our opportunities. So can all of us be lucky? We think so.
Take a moment today to write down 5 things you’re grateful for. Look at your list and ask, “Do I consider myself lucky for the blessings I have?” It’s easy to get caught up in the desire for more -and feel like others are “luckier” than us. The real power comes from our perspective, and the ability to consider ourselves lucky for all we have achieved. Even when we are faced with challenges, we can choose to see it as a chance to learn and change how we look at the situation.
As we approach this new season in our lives, one filled with flowers blooming and snow melting, we have the opportunity to reset our minds and remember to look at the glass as “half-full.” Consider yourself lucky, Shine Tribe! I certainly do. Happy March.
