Hitting Reset

Getting overwhelmed is debilitating– there is simply no way to sugarcoat it. Time moves at a different pace and thoughts can be hard to sort.  Life can throw so much at you at once, some things that were anticipated, some things we were not and everything in between.  When the going gets tough, it’s best to hit “reset” on your Shine.  Get ready to dive deep because resetting your Shine is a very personal process. Remember to take our recommendations and apply them to what works best for your life, there is no “one size fits all” for our emotional intelligence journeys. Here are some tools to identify what is holding you back or upsetting you and to help you reset yourself so you can continue to Shine Bright!

A great first step is addressing what is dimming your Shine is identifying the “what” that is stressing you out or bringing you anxiety.  What is it that is starting to pile up or get out of control?  Take out your Shine journal and put your phone & any distractions away while you write down everything (we mean everything) that is getting under your skin or distracting you lately. Even the littlest inconveniences can pile up like sand and create a beach of anxiety, we totally get it. Identifying when something is causing a pain point or struggle will help you understand the next courses of action to remove this pain from your life or learn how to manage it better.

Notice we did not say “who” for step one.  Identifying the underlying cause, or the “what,” and then addressing the other factors, such as who is involved can be a great step by step process on where to start. In this journey, there is a lot of ownership involved in looking at our emotions, reactions and stressors through a variety of lenses, both ours and others.

Once you’ve thought long and hard about what may be causing you to want to reset and who is a contributing factor, ourselves of course, we recommend that you take another dedicated amount of time to define why in a few different respects.  Why are you wanting to make the change? Why is this instance or issue important to resolve?  Identifying your “why” can look a lot of different ways and there is no one right way to handle any given situation.

Another great way to reset is to get a new routine going! We wrote this blog to help you define what that might look like and how it can help your overall happiness.  If you need more assistance uncovering what is dimming your Shine, this is exactly what the Shine Journal was made to do: help you with prompted questions and images to dive into deeper perspectives.
